URGENT!

THE TRUE STATE OF THE UNION

Dear Pastor:

Thom S Rainer shows the Christian decline of our nation in the following table from the book The Bridger Generation:

            Builders (born 1927-1945): 65% Bible-based believers

            Boomers (born 1946-1964): 35% Bible-based believers

            Busters (born 1965-1983): 16% Bible-based believers

Bridgers (or Millennials, born 1984 or later): 4% Bible-based believers

Think about what these statistics means.  These “Bridgers” are our future leaders.  It’s time for us to get on our knees, put on our armor and fight for the souls of our youth.  We are in a battle to save America’s youth.  THE HOUR HAS COME!

According to a Lifeway survey, 80% of Christians made their decision before the age of 18.  How were they led to Christ?  20% their parents; 20% a friend; 20% an event; 16% family beyond their parent; 10% minister’s prompting.  As you can see a special event is one of the top three ways to reach a young person.

According to demographic surveys by the Southern Baptist Convention and the State Baptist Convention of North Carolina, 80%-85% of the youth in Ashe County are unchurched or unsaved.  This means that 85% of the children in our schools are unchurched.  As Believers, we sat passively while God was taken out of our schools.   We idly watch as our elected officials try to take God out of our government; out of our pledge; and off of our currency.  If we do not reach our children now, it could be too late.

High Country Youth Ministries, is made up of a group of people who feel God is leading them to reach the youth in this county for Jesus.  This group is diverse in denominations; but we all share in One Faith, in One God, and His Only Son Jesus, who was crucified and bore our sin, was dead and buried.  We believe that on the third day He was risen from the dead, and now sits at the right hand of the Father.  We believe that His return is very soon and that is why the urgency of this letter.

These young people are not darkening our church doors, so what can we do?  The desire of High Country Youth Ministries, is to present the gospel of Jesus Christ through special events that we believe our Christian kids will be excited to invite their non-Christian friends to attend.  If they are not coming to us, we must reach for them.  They are drowning in a society of moral corruptness.  We have to reach out and lead them to the only One who can save them from the evils of this world, Jesus.

The Lord has miraculously opened doors to allow the first event sponsored by Country Youth Ministries, to take place on August 5th at the Ashe County High School Auditorium.  We will be presenting Hyper Static Union.  This is an up and coming contemporary group who is being mentored by Third Day.  If you are not familiar with these names, you will have to trust the people who are; they have a dynamic ministry reaching our kids through their music.

This will be presented as a “School Kick-off” for the kids.  The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for pizza and fellowship.  At 6:00 the doors will be open to the auditorium where the kids will join a group from Boone in Praise & Worship.  And at 7:00, Hyper Static Union will perform, followed by a time of invitation.

How can you help?  We would love to see the auditorium “packed out”.  That’s where you come in.  We believe that the Lord is going before us and that He will draw the young people in, and when He does, we will need a lot of help from you and your congregation.  We need you to tell your youth starting now, so they can make plans to come and bring their unsaved friends.  We need your adults to serve on a team of volunteers.  We need all of you to be in earnest prayer concerning this event.  God is moving and we are expecting a great revival in this county, of which this is just the beginning.

Jesus said in Mark 9:37,  ”Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”

Enclosed is a list of the different teams in which we need volunteers.  Please put this where your congregation can get the phone numbers to call to volunteer.  Also, there is a flyer to put up on your bulletin board.  Please join us in reaching one more for Jesus!

Sincerely,

High Country Youth Ministries
